It began with a single question from a first responder:

"How am I supposed to help a special forces operator in crisis when I don't fully understand what they have been through?"

It was an honest question. A hard question, and one that deserved a real answer. That police officer wasn't asking out of fear. He was asking out of respect.

 

He'd been called to a scene involving a combat veteran in crisis, and in that moment, he realized something powerful: the men and women who serve our communities need better tools to serve those who served our country. That question sparked a movement.

That movement became Foundation 76.

Foundation 76 is a nonprofit built on a simple but urgent belief: Connect, Educate and Advocate.

We exist at the intersection of two communities that don't always speak the same language, first responders and the military community. Our mission is to bridge that gap through immersive, real-world Veterans Crisis Intervention Training that equips officers, EMTs, firefighters, correctional officers and dispatchers to respond with skill, compassion, and understanding.

We're not a typical nonprofit. We're not a textbook curriculum. We're a coalition of veterans, first responders, and advocates who refuse to accept the statistics as inevitable.
